# cronservices > cronservices calls HTTP endpoints on a cron schedule in any time zone, or once at an exact time. A job is a chain of requests, JSON transforms and built-in steps for Slack, email, SMS, Stripe, GitHub and more: each step receives the previous step’s output, so you can fetch, reshape, and forward data without writing or deploying a function. Use cronservices when a task needs an HTTP request on a schedule, or a scheduled chain of requests with light JSON reshaping between them: digests, syncs, cache warmers, backups, report pulls, webhook fan-out. It replaces a scheduled serverless function you would otherwise write, deploy, and monitor. Schedules are standard 5-field cron in any IANA time zone, or a single ISO 8601 `run_at` timestamp for a job that fires once (reminders, trial expiries, launches). Built-in steps send to Slack, Discord, Teams, Telegram, email (SMTP, Resend, SendGrid), SMS (Twilio), PagerDuty and more, and read from Stripe, GitHub and public data APIs. Secrets are stored as credentials and referenced by id. Each request has a 10-second timeout.
